Re: Swine Flu
Likely mentioned previously, the problem with Swine/H1N1 is the follow-up infections. Those with compromised immune systems, those at risk, and those with chronic breathing problems (i.e. asthma) are particularly noteworthy here, but it applies to everyone.
Thus as a general comment, look out for people who have been sick and are getting better. If they take a turn for the worse again, encourage them to get more treatment. Pneumonia that comes on the heels of the flu is particularly dangerous and unfortunately seemingly common with this strain of the flu. I had a near-miss with this. I had the flu, got better, then felt awful again. Upon going to the hospital with breathing problems, I had bronchitis and a sinus infection. Antibiotics became a measure (above all else) to ensure that pneumonia did not follow.
So people: look out for each other. A little bit of compassion and identification can help remove the most dangerous elements of the flu. Take care of each other!

Re: Swine Flu
That is so true. Put me in the hospital for a few days. When I had swine back in June, it was really rough for me. My fever reached 103.8 and it got pretty scary. I went to school because I had 2 day of MCAS and SATIIs on the weekend. I didn't know that I had swine at that time because I didn't go to the doctor. When I was at the hospital for pneumonia in August, my mother described my medical history for the past few months and they said that I definitely had swine then. I don't know how they can be so sure because they never ran tests or anything, but I'm not going to doubt a doctor. Looking back on it, I feel kinda guilty because I endangered my school by going there with swine. Had I known that I had it, I would have stayed home even though I never miss school. About a month ago I received my swine flu vaccine just in case it could hit again.ZekeBud wrote:...Pneumonia that comes on the heels of the flu is particularly dangerous and unfortunately seemingly common with this strain of the flu...

Re: Swine Flu
Yeah. I mean, it's certainly unpleasant, but not nearly as fatal as a whole lot of other diseases, including the actual flu.ncha13 wrote:the whole swine flu deal is so stupid i had it for a week and it wasnt that bad
