It was an FFM kit but obviously with a few modifications. I'm not sure what they did though...
*magic*

TBH it was probably a combination of a ~3.00g helicopter, optimal rubber, perfectly built everything, and well balanced rotors.
That's possible - especially since Dave said his prototypes were about 3.50 grams. There might also be some pitch adjustments. But that's just me guessing.

I'm guessing the optimal rubber used was between 0.094 and 0.109, but honestly I have no idea

In the range of 25 feet. I know it's on their website somewhere (along with a picture).

Antoine,

Thanks very much for posting. I poked around the MIT Invite website on Monday and saw this picture too.

For those of you that attended the MIT Invite, did you get to meet Professor Mark Drela? Not sure if he would be involved, but he's the Terry J. Kohler Professor of Fluid Dynamics at MIT and is quite famous among the small world of indoor model airplane competitors.

If he was there, I didn't see him. All those who were running Heli that I saw were college age students. I would have liked to meet him though.

He looked so familiar but my partner and I couldn't place him until like 2 days after when I randomly saw him on Facebook.
