Whoa really? I seriously never knew this. Looking at your answer, I think we got it correct (-ish), so yay!
EDIT: yay!

Has anyone seen math related to gravitational microlensing on a test? I wouldn't expect it to show up, but if it has shown up I'd like to know.

Edit: Fine, we are playing nice. Woo! Don't worry, I thought I knew things too but then I got to college (hey, isn't that the point?) :P.

As for microlensing I think the most I've seen has been a few people asking to ID with a graph of it in some manner. It isn't supposed to be too emphasized I think especially mathematically because general relativity can be complex (I still don't even know the exact details on how lensing works, even if I could probably do the math now). Others who have taken more tests?

First, sorry to double post. So since someone already posted, I figured just in case people want a reconfirmation and maybe easier place to find the post about NEXT YEAR'S TOPIC!

So it will not be galaxies or cosmology or anything, but it will be Type Ia SNe and stellar evolution again. Yay, explosions!

So the 2017 topics for Astronomy will most likely be Type Ia Supernovae and Stellar Evolution?
Are the topics on a rotation scheme?

Are there any (predicted) additional topics?

Thank you

Yeah, that's what it looks like to me based on syo and arvind's posts.
