Although I wouldn't go quite so far as to say that, I have to agree that North does seem to be a stronger team this year, for example North's average placement per event at Princeton was just below 5th while South's was just above 11th. However, it's often hard to compare state tournaments to invitationals, as last year based on invites North was arguably better, but South still ended up winning states and moving on to Nationals.
I will have to agree with you. WWPS might get lucky again this year and win States, just like in 2017 and 2019.

grover has a much higher chance of beating us than in previous years, but probably still less than 50%

Post-Penn Predictions?
This was the last invitational for the NJ teams this season. My predictions have significantly changed after seeing the results.
1. WWPN (68)
2. WWPS (84)
3. Hillsborough (123)
4. Montgomery (129)
5. South Brunswick (137)
I can see 3, 4, and 5 go in any way.
I stand corrected with my previous statement. I honestly now believe that WWPN will sweep NJ States, as mentioned in the SOUP forum. After superscoring Penn results (including the consideration that some were absent fro the Science Bowl), North proves to be the dominant team in NJ. South didn't bring their full team to Penn. But even if they did, I don't think they will be that close to North.
Hillsborough definitely surprised me at Penn. It seems that their placements keep getting better throughout the season. If they continue this growth, I can definitely see them get 3rd at States, beating Montgomery and South Brunswick. They have been averaging pretty well at competitions and keep getting better at each comp. Montgomery, on the other hand, has been really inconsistent. Despite their placements at Yale, it seems that the same few events have been struggling. Their Penn results definitely show weakness in their builds. South Brunswick has been decent overall. They have certain events that they are good at. These three placements can go either way in my opinion.

Penn results shouldn’t influence states predictions... too many people were missing. South’s sci bowl is pretty much the entire backbone of the scioly team, so penn doesn’t reflect how strong south really is. I would still predict them to win states, similar to how they won regionals
