It is easy to get higher than 1000, just look at some designs on the images site here in scioly. Think simple and use less wood than you need. If you build it complex with too many trusses, it will make it weaker as well add weight. Try a basic design and just have good lateral bracing, getting 600 should be like a worst case scenario. 600 should be okay, might be in the top 8 depending on your luck.

Thanks so much. Where is the images section? It would be really helpful to know what pieces on our bridge are necessary, and which pieces are unnecessary. We only have an A frame bridge with two pieces connecting them on both sides, so we really don't have that much. We use 1/4 inch would for the frame, and we laminated in a couple of spots. It weighs like 25 g. It holds about 10-11k consistently. I don't know how anyone can get it to hold 15k and weigh 10 grams, or even 20-25! We have talked to people and we work on it like every day, and we can't figure out why it is weighing so much but not holding so much.

Good luck tehkubix! My states is in like 3 weeks. I'm going to try a completely different design for my next bridge. The other ones just aren't doing as well as I would like them to. For my next couple of bridges, I'm going to experiment with basswood. I think that I should be able to do much better.

Thanks, I should be fine, I have a lot of other work (non scioly related) that's bringing me down though.

this is amazing. a ten gram bridge that hold all the weight seems pretty hard to find

well its not really that hard just dont use big wood like 1/4 just stick to like a 1/8 square balsa size and dont over truss ur bridge and dont use unessessary lateral bracing i just use 1/16 for that in just a couple of pieces.

oh and only use lateral bracing on the top compression peice cuz its not needed on tension pieces
