Haha that's the exact opposite for me. Glad no Sounds of Music!

Re: Events 2016-2017
About how accurate do these tentative lists tend to be? Is the change regarding Hovercraft and Sounds of Music likely enough that I should prepare my team (I'm a captain) for both?

It's very likely to happen, pending some major issue we discover at the SO Summer Institute.chaguy2457 wrote:About how accurate do these tentative lists tend to be? Is the change regarding Hovercraft and Sounds of Music likely enough that I should prepare my team (I'm a captain) for both?

Re: Events 2016-2017
I'm curious as to what those reasons are? I was quite surprised that during the discussions all the state directors were very positive about the event. Usually we get some concerns / negative feedback about new trial events, but in this situation that didn't happen.Magikarpmaster629 wrote: I think hovercraft will be disliked for the same reason maglev was disliked; and I am certain it will be disliked, at least in C division.

I'll keep my eyes out for updates and prepare for all 24 events released. Thanks! Can you say anything about what trial events might be run?chalker wrote:It's very likely to happen, pending some major issue we discover at the SO Summer Institute.chaguy2457 wrote:About how accurate do these tentative lists tend to be? Each tournament / state picks their own. We haven't determined the National Tournament ones yet, but I'd guess on Sounds of Music, WiFi lab, Roller Coaster, Potion and Poisonschaguy2457 wrote:

I thought sound was going to be an official event next year.chalker wrote:Each tournament / state picks their own. We haven't determined the National Tournament ones yet, but I'd guess on Sounds of Music, WiFi lab, Roller Coaster, Potion and Poisonschaguy2457 wrote:

Re: Events 2016-2017
Yeah, the first thing I thought of when I read the rules was "this is Maglev in B."Magikarpmaster629 wrote:I know my team will be disappointed. I think hovercraft will be disliked for the same reason maglev was disliked; and I am certain it will be disliked, at least in C division.chalker wrote:There was a significant change coming out of the rules committee meeting, which is going to start to leak out I suspect. Hence I think it best I comment on it here: it is likely that Sounds of Music will NOT be back as an event next year. Hovercraft will likely take it's place (and be both a B and C division event).
Some people are going to be very happy about this, others are going to be disappointed. The reasoning is that the committee wants to SIGNIFICANTLY revamp the rules for Sounds of Music, and we felt it best to run it as a trial first with the revamped rules. We'll be working more on those this summer.
Assuming this does happen, I've gotten commitments from many people to run Sounds as a trial event next year at their tournaments. I'm 99% sure we'll run it at the National Tournament as a trial too.
