The "L" should deffinately be allowed since you can use any symbol on a standard keyboard. As far as the code, that depends on the event supervidor and what they think "code" means.

The rules state:
Only words and numerals may be used.
The letter "L" is not a word, it is an abbreviation.
There rules have this to say about abbreviations:
All abbreviations (not symbols) must be defined either at the beginning or when the abbreviation is first used.
.My opinion: Since you use "L-Purple" as a term, you should specifically define what "L-Purple" means. e.g.,
L-purple designates the purple objects in the shape of an "L".

yeah if you even once consider it might be illegal during competition, just define it, no points marked down for defining something you dont have to.

However, describing a structure as in an l or x or t shape is legal. Or at least I've done it at nats and medaled so I assume I wasn't penalized...
But yeah, L-purple has to be defined.

you can also use other symbols, so long as, before you write the instructions for the the object, you have to define them. and then you're good!

So draw a picture of the entire structure, but then at the beginning write: I am defining the following symbol as the description of the entire structure.

"Symbols, drawings and diagrams are not allowed, with the exception of common punctuation and editing symbols."

Write-it-do-it is kinda hard for me. i was pretty good with my old partner, but now that i'm at another school, my partner has bad handwriting, so it's hard for me at times. any advice on how to handle it?

Does anyone have any recommendations for this event on how to get your partner to understand your part of this event weither you write or build? Are there any specific things that help you or that you shouldn't waste your time wiht?
