Does anyone know the acronym for Disease Detectives? I remember it was on the Los Angeles County test last year. I'm completely blanking about the name. Help?

I have a few questions about the event:

Besides the obvious ones (odds ratio, relative rish, attack rate) are there any other important rates or odds to know?

Are you often asked questions about very specific food borne diseases besides well-known ones?

Just so you know, I have read the rules, I just had these questions in particular. I also understand every test is different but if anyone did the event last year I was curious as to what kinds of diseases they were asked about.

Incidence as well as prevalence is also probably good to know. And they usually only stick with the common ones, but if there is a specific disease in the current news they may ask about that as well.
To be honest, knowing about the disease is less important than knowing how to apply the method. The only time I needed to know specific information about a disease was at States freshman year, when they asked for the symptoms and incubation period of H1N1.

In my experience the answer to both of these is no. It is usually some basic knowledge question along with lots upon lots of case summaries. Thr diseases were like e.coli, salmonella, etc.

Acctualy, this year at state we went in stations, and one station involved a list of symptoms, and you had to identify the disease based on the symptoms given to you. however, this could just be my state that asks for these kinds of things. Also, none of the diseases were food borne illnesses, and quite a few were cancerous

I requested it, but haven't received it yet. I was able to work through most of the answers myself.

You should probably read the rules manual, it has most of the things that you are and aren't allowed to bring.
Basically, you can bring a single sheet, front and back, full of notes from any source (can be typed), something to write with, and your brain. That usually works out just fine... :D
