Re: Efficiencies
Impressive, and which of those held the full 15 kg leaving room for further improvement?

Re: 2001 San Diego Regionals DIV B
The title says "2001 SAn Diego Regionals Div B". Was this a typeo or were these scores actually from 2001?Freyssenet wrote:A very competitive event:

I had a typo. The scores are from the San Diego Regional, which was held last Saturday for DIV B. The SD regional is one of the largest in the country, as I understand. The high scores for the DIV B clearly show that many towers tested last Saturday would be competitive at National level. All towers held the 15 kg. If you do the numbers, the second to fourth place were separated by a feather of weight.
I would love to read results from other events so we can compile the statistics.

Re: Efficiencies
How should Division B efficiencies compare with Division C efficiencies, theoretically? (By theoretically I mean ignore the fact that div C members have more experience and things like that.)
The only difference is above what distance does the tower need to fit into the 8cm diameter hole. For div C it's 30cm and for div B it is 15cm.

Re: Efficiencies
Does anyone know the record for structual efficiency for towers sci-oly?
Can you please give the weight and load supported?
Thanks!!

Re: Efficiencies
i know some people claim they have towers about 5-10g that hold all 15KGdrifter601 wrote:Does anyone know the record for structual efficiency for towers sci-oly?

Re: Efficiencies
This is my first year doing tower/bridge stuff. I made a tower it was 13g and held all 15kg with an efficiency aroung 17million. I was just wondering how that compares, good, bad. Should i get the weight down?

thats really good for a first year buildermkh1997 wrote:This is my first year doing tower/bridge stuff. I made a tower it was 13g and held all 15kg with an efficiency aroung 17million. I was just wondering how that compares, good, bad. Should i get the weight down?

one note: the efficiency is weight held in kg^2, to ur efficiency would be around 17.3 (not million)
also, you should been building and try to reduce the weight as much as possible, but remember there is a huge benefit for holding all of the load as it is squared

Re: Efficiencies
As for comparison to others, I hear many towers have scores in the 30s and 40s. But don't let that discourage you. In fact, congratulations on your 17, as it is a really good score for a beginner.soccerkid812 wrote:thats really good for a first year buildermkh1997 wrote:This is my first year doing tower/bridge stuff.
