Yeah, it's the order I put up there, so Forestry's coming back next year.

I actually missed out on Birds, since Forestry started when I was in 7th grade, and we ended with Reptiles when I was in 12th grade. Besides Birds, I've done every ID event at least once. Forestry was a lot of fun, even if I wasn't very good at it (I could ID the pines, and that was pretty much it. I could tell a birch apart from a beech, but I could not discern between different members of the same group easily. My partner was awesome though, so we got 3rd at States).

That's great! Yeah, I love ID events, although they seem to be way more stressful. After fossils and ornithology for 1.5 years, I'm ready to do some more physics/chem stuff next year.

I love ID events, I was always the go-to ID event guy (though Herpetology was bad). I was also the Rocks and Minerals/Fossils guy, so I did those too. Which was bad ever since the NY state director decided to put the two ID events at the same time >.>

Anyway, yeah, let's get back to Remote.

The NYS test was such a joke. First off, there were 30ish matching vocabulary words, straight from a website game (which we happened to have on our sheet) and the analysis of the pictures was okay. Not many questions on satellites however, nor global warming. I can't believe we got 2nd - paleonaps can tell anyone how freaked out I was.

What was the website game?

Does anyone know how much on satellites I should type on my notes? I have never seen them used on a test before but I feel that I might want to have something in my notes about them.

Most of the time, the satellites that appear on tests are the NASA ones. I put a little bit on all of the NASA satellites, especially the A-Train, on my pages. At regionals, we got a question about the agency of SeaWIFS, which we wouldn't have gotten if I hadn't done the NASA stuff. If you find other satellites that you think you'd potentially need while you're searching, feel free to add those as well.

For satellites you should definitely know MODIS and LandSat. SeaWIFS is also useful along with a few others. You can calculate area by using a ruler (you can bring one) and subdividing your image into known polygons which you can then determine area from.

Have you guys seen many questions about the eye? There always seems to be one or two questions about it...
