I don't think you need too much about forests, as I got 2nd at regionals by myself without being an expert on it. However, I would know about the types of forests and basic facts about the climate, ecosystem, etc. Also deforestation if you count that as bio. After that I'm not sure, since the bio was not my strong point either. If you're really solid on satellites, I think you should be fine.

That was my first thought...
Then regionals came along.
Like...2 questions on sensors, 3 on interpretation, 5 on bio...

Im considering doing this event next year - is it basically interpreting satellite images and understanding how satellites work, or is there more to it?

That's around half the event, the other is the environmental aspect. The topic is "Human Impact on the Environment", so know stuff about pollutants, the ozone layer and CFCs, Greenhouse gasses, etc.

Ahh...so is this a lab or a written test/station?

Does anyone know the rotation cycle for remote sensing topics? I kinda can't wait for Mars to come back!

I don't think there is a cycle for topics, I think they choose at the beginning of the year based on whats going on, because it was Mars for a few years, but it has changed every year for the past two.
