Not too sure since I'm bad at rocks and minerals, but it's basically just how the mineral/rock looks with different shapes coming from it. If it has a cleavage, it breaks along parallel planes and could have multiple cleavage directions.

Do we need name origin for every rock/mineral? Currently, my partner and I have it for some rocks/minerals, but we didn't make it a priority.
8th grade: I knew stuff about rocks, minerals, experiments, and ecosystems!
9th grade: I knew stuff about amphibians, reptiles, freshwater, and experiments!
10th grade: I knew stuff about oceanography, saltwater, birds, and fossils!
11th grade: I knew stuff about birds and fossils!

I have it. It could be tested on, like for example a very common test question is "The Greeks believed that Amethyst prevented _____, which was what it was named after." The more you know, the better.

Yeah every once in a while you'll see these kinds of random knowledge questions come up. So if you have them down, they are basically easy points.

Some tests have one station dedicated to trivia, which is where this may come in useful.

Are there usually stations with a map that shows the specimens locations and asks you to identify it based on that?

I have never in my life encountered that type of station. That seems more like a bio ID event thing...

I have never seen one and actually had very few location based questions as there are so many localities for each mineral it is incredibly hard to test on it.
