I'm new to Scioly and I was wondering what specific information is useful for bringing to the competition (should we know about significance of the species to its native land etc.).

I was also wondering if there are any websites that provides lots of information about invasive species ( I apologise for double posting).

If you haven't taken a look, the national event page has a list of websites about invasive species: https://www.soinc.org/invasive_species_c. I haven't done this event, but I'd also guess that you won't find all of the invasive species in the official list on a single site (or all the information you would want to know wouldn't be on a single site) so you might find yourself looking at websites specifically about a certain species, etc.

The powerpoint seems to have a lot of great concepts, terms, laws, etc. but not the information about each of the invasive species so you'll be doing some searching on your own. Hopefully someone who is doing the event can provide a more helpful answer and possibly opinions on the different sites available.

Tfw my document for pictures auto-saves and says "Not responding" for a few seconds... It's so scary.

Good insight. That's pretty complete, but not really my approach to it. The PowerPoint has many many many species in it not referenced in the official list... So that's scary. If I had to tell you a place to start, learn about all the species in your area on the list, and write it down based on the handout. Then, complete the info for the rest of the list. Then, spend a week locked in your room learning about all the invasive species they left out of the list like boar, starling, gecko, procambarus, local species, common carp, the list is literally 10,000 species long. Good luck

I'd say this event is one of the simpler ones (although not necessarily easy). The materail basically comes down to knowing the info listed on the rules (ecology, control methods, etc; there's a sentence that says all of that stuff on the rules) for each organism listed on the Invasives List (linked in my earlier post on this page).

That happened a lot for me in Solar System last year; I had so many pictures that it lagged while moving between pages.

Specifically, the list ~110 pages long (for reference of the people above who asked questions).

You are definitely correct on that. I this event all comes down to the amount of effort and number of hours you put into it. The more comprehensive you are with your binder and the moire time you spend looking at pics on google, the better you will do. (this all coming from someone who spent ~800 hours so far on my binder.)

800 hours? Is that serious? Even I don't spend that much time.
