In Virginia, there's a clarification that states that it's a .9 x .9 x .9 meter cube. VA only follows its own clarifications, so any National ones won't count.abby1kanobe wrote:Repost:

Thanks for the answer to my previous question.
So I was reading the rules and Rule 2.a. states that "the entire Scrambler, including the egg, must not exceed 0.90 m in any dimension."
My understanding is that the distance between any two points of the entire device must be less than 0.90 m, so diagonals count. However others I have talked to think that this means the Scrambler needs to fit in a 0.90 m cube, so only the height, width, and length dimensions count.
What's your understanding of this rule? Thanks!
I think you might have caught an error. Generally we would say something like the device should fit inside a 0.90 x 0.90 x 0.90 m cube, but I think there was an attempt to save some space / make it easier to read with the language you cite. I'm pretty sure the intention is still a .90 m cube, but I'll have to discuss with the committee.

And the backstop dimensions are 5 cm(Length) by 5cm(Height) by 0.5cm(width), am I correct?DuckMaster wrote:Thanksdragon_fruit35 wrote:Not necessarily, but your car will most likely be more accurate if you do.DuckMaster wrote:Are brakes REQUIRED for your car?

Re: Scrambler B
The width is actually .5 INCHES, don't ask me why. I believe it can be + or - .5 cm... check your rules.

Re: Scrambler B
Sorry to double post, but does anyone know if the ES actually uses a gauge to find out whether the egg holder is perpendicular to the ground or not? Ours is as close as we can get it but it's not quite there.

They may, but I have not seen that happen before.dragon_fruit35 wrote:Sorry to double post, but does anyone know if the ES actually uses a gauge to find out whether the egg holder is perpendicular to the ground or not? Ours is as close as we can get it but it's not quite there.

Re: Scrambler B
Ok thanks
We noticed the other day that our dowels were quite obviously not perpendicular, so we did what we could.

It is my belief that nothing in contact with the ground at first is allowed to touch the ground after launching.DuckMaster wrote:Are brakes REQUIRED for your car?
This might be last years rules though idk very much I would go over the rules sheet
Re: Scrambler B
What's the best place to find pulleys for sprint/pulley launcher? Also, is friction a big issue here? Should we find ball bearing pulleys? Thanks!

Re: Scrambler B
To be honest, my team has a "pulley" launcher, but we don't even use pulleys. In some cases, eyehooks can accomplish the same task. However, friction is DEFINITELY an issue. You'll want to put as little friction as possible on your string.jay007 wrote:What's the best place to find pulleys for sprint/pulley launcher? Also, is friction a big issue here?
