Re: How many medals do you have?
wow is my state the only one that doesnt give out medals for invitationals?? There are 2 invitationals in my state and all we do at them is pick 2 events and then we take either the naitonals test or a sample test from the soinc website then they give us the answers and we self grade it. The man who runs reach for the stars usually shows us a power point and we have a discussion about space related stuff. I really like it =]

Re: How many medals do you have?
It's possible. I know that for the Boyceville invite, which was yesterday, we gave out 1st and 2nd to large school and small school for each event. I finally medaled because of it. I got first in Trajectory with Sliced Bread 34 as my partner, he built the device, I helped calibrate it. And first in It's About Time with Armcon as my partner. Armcon hasn't posted yet so you guys probably don't know him. With Junkyard we came in third, behind my brother who is a freshman as opposed to me as a junior, so I was upset. I wonder if it was because of the robot that I didn't medal before...

Re: How many medals do you have?
saddly only 2 medals in 4 years but my first year in sci o my team could have easily took first in road scholar if we had realized that our coach had written the test we took that we praticed on the test and that we had the answer key to the test and when i was in 8th grade my school was one question away from third but the funny thing is that when i was in 6th grade my team placed 5th overall and that was the best that our team had ever done we got a plaque and a trophy

Re: How many medals do you have?
Just remember that a lot of this is relative, for instance it is far easier to get 1st at states in say Oklahoma, than it is in Ohio. I am not saying that you shouldn't be proud of ANY medals, just saying that is something to think about when you are comparing yourself to some of these other people :p
Events: Herpetology, Fossils, Entomology, Rocks & Minerals, Ornithology, Ecology
Nationals 2008: 1st in Herpetology
Nationals 2009: 1st in Herpetology, 2nd in Fossils

Re: How many medals do you have?
New Jersey is probably one of the toughest states, but they give out the most awards.
Regionals:
Top 4 get medals
5-8 get ribbons
States: Top 6 get medals.
The thing is that the north and central regions usually have 16 out of the max 20 people and the south has 6-8 each year. They have so many spare 8th place ribbons from all of the years, but I don't know where they keep them. Haha. North and Central filled up this year, so people are moving to the southern regional. It bums me out, because the silver I got with six teams is the equivalent of getting a sixth place ribbon with eighteen teams.
