Re: It's about time
does anyone have any good online sources/books that have a lot of info that could be on the test besides the suggested book?

Re: It's about time
I am doing this as a freshmen and was wondering how is it scored if the time allowed is between 10-30 seconds. Also i know this seems like the easiest idea but i just want to try it. I got a bottle and some sand. Wrote of the side of the big liter bottle times. Meaning every 5 seconds. Supervisor says the first time. I fill it up to 20 seconds and and then at the bottom of the bottle there is a hole. When it is done spilling out i say done or whatever. When is the computer sound thing used? How does the scoring work? Is it okay to start it by letting go of my hand from the hole? Does the guy say a time like 30 seconds or does he say a interval? Do we have to bring a computer? Will the person say a time like 20.25 seconds or 20.2 or 20 seconds? Please answer my question i am confused as every????????

-computer has two warning beeps and then a start beep and then a beep at the end of the time
-timing is to the nearest tenth of a second
-you cant have a computer
-read the event rules for scoring and other info

Re: It's about time
Can you build in an abacus and use it to keep track of pendulum swings, or do you have to count?

Re: It's about time
If you do a sand clock, you will have to take many things into account, as you would for any clock, so it is not the easiest idea. If you do it right, it might work out well. The event supervisors won't tell you a time that you have to show with your clock. Instead, an event supervisor would play sound files from his/her computer. There are two warning beebs and a starting beep that tells you to start counting. A final beep later on means "stop" and you have to write down the time you think it was. Event supervisors would say "time interval: 10-30 sec" or "30-90 sec" and you would have to say the exact time.gsheni wrote:I am doing this as a freshmen and was wondering how is it scored if the time allowed is between 10-30 seconds. Re: It's about time
This might still be considered counting. You just mark each second. It's not a "counting device" so it should be allowed.Flavorflav wrote:Can you build in an abacus and use it to keep track of pendulum swings, or do you have to count?
