Do you guys like pen or pencil better? If given the option, I think that pen is better because it's easy to write fast with and it doesnt break. At invites a week ago, the person I had write actually broke her pencil half way through so she had to stick the little led triangle back into the pencil and write very lightly and slowly.

I dont know if they offered her a pencil or if they even noticed. The meeting after states the two people were all sad because they think they failed miserably so I had to identify with them what went wrong so i started talking with the writer and she said how her pencil broke half way through and she had to write the rest with a broken pencil. She didnt mention if they noticed or if they offered a pencil. I would think they would have but i dont know.

You probably could use it to color code the instructions, though that might get you DQd.

Is it in the rules that you bring your own writing instrument or do they give it to you?

It doesn't say. I'd bring one with me though, since that's the way it is with most events.

Right now i'm reading over my writer's directions to make sure she's not doing anything illegal and i have a few questions. I know they may vary depending upon the event supervisor. There's a k'nex piece that looks exactly like an L so would it be legal to describe the piece saying: "4 purple looks like "L". The only reason i'm questioning this one is because even though it's a letter, it may seem like a picture. Still with k'nex, can you say "green piece coming out of 4 [hole]" or would that be a code and therefore illegal? If she said "attach a L-purple" L would already have to have been defined, right?
I know that nothing's official unless it's on soinc.org but what do you think about these?
