hmm... I see. The berries of a Smooth Sumac have a more conical/vertical shape.

How do you tell the difference between baldcypress and redwood leaves? They look pretty similar.

No idea, perhaps bald cypress leaves are more yellow-green but the biggest thing would be the cones I guess

Haha darn, that's inconvenient. I was maybe thinking that baldcypress leaves are thinner, but that's a very loose generalization.

do you guys know of a good way to tell apart the trees in this genus? Because they all look the same to me.
