Lol same for me Chia. Except the whole copter broke (bad motor stick, shouldn't have done the split stick design) and we had to use our crappy one we made for fun (really thick rubber bands, short body, double looped rubber, crazy torque), got like 15 seconds because it went up to the ceiling in about 3 seconds and then came down like a rock after about 10 seconds of hovering. What it was designed to do, but not designed for the event at hand. Sigh, o well, i'd like to hit 2 minutes before the state tournament though.

We got 2nd at NJ states with a time of 2:12. Third place was 2:11 and i don't believe first was more than 2:30.

congratulations! that's an extremely impressive time, may I ask if you used a kit design or did you make your own?
Our helicopter did OK, I guess it was the max we could've done but I don't even see 2 min as feasible, we're really plateauing below that.

We started the year with a kit but quickly abandoned it as we didn't really see any potential. So this one was a custom built based on a kit.

interesting. I started off with my own custom design but it failed and I couldn't precisely build rotors (a lot of cambering and the spring back isn't the same) so I just kind of settled on a modified kit.

At the competition, did you see the vents turned on? I saw people try to launch off the vents (obviously) but I'm not sure how much the whole luck factor would play into this. The rafters/girders at the competition weren't even much of a factor, so i'm not sure how people were able to push 1 minute helicopters into 2 minute ones (apparently one of the teams did?)

Really? We didn't use curved props but that might be an idea for nationals. But as for luck i think that people who got stuck were just not looking where they were launching; i believe all of the top 3 teams flew in the center of the gym where the roof was completely clear. many teams flew straight into a light and got stuck.

really? yeah there was this one location all the top teams flew in, there was quite a bit of clearance. that was a relief. i'm still not understanding how it's possible to push 2 mins though. something i'll have to figure out later. good luck at nats! i think a 2:30 would be a really good time at nats, I don't know maybe the 1st place will push it to 3 minutes?

oh and creepily I know a WWP-S towers person, he's in my tennis class and he's an... interesting person.

I asked him his tower score out of randomness and he was like 8 ounces or something and I'm like lol wow it's in grams. but he did state he was a new person so I don't blame him. It was weird. maybe he's competing for grover? i dunno. he's pretty good at tennis but he's a bit arrogant.

and this is way off topic. i would suggest you to curve your rotors but that's just me, seems to me most of the top designs were not flat rotors. or was that just me?
