The team I am coaching has had the best time so far of 20ish seconds
How do you do that? Our high is about 7 seconds. Which division do you coach?

Well it really depends on what design you are using before i make any major suggestions on increasing time.
Depending on what it does in the air one thing to do is make the rocket more aerodynamic.
It is only a B division event so that is what i am coaching

The change in shape rule applies for the entire rocket not just the outside right. That is what I thought but my coach is saying it is only for the outside.

yea I would read it as the entire rocket
and changing interior shape wouldnt do too much that I can see.

Where will the Bottle Rocket event be held if it is snowing? Is it safe to launch in temperature below freezing? Can we put anything in the water to keep it from freezing? Our bottles have collapsed from changing temperatures ... wasn't the Challenger disaster 25 years ago?

Our first year at this, so I have tons of questions, and so do the kids. :)

Well it is possible to launch in the snow the only issue is when the launcher's safety freezes. I would have to say that each competition would make the decision on its own. I also don't think you would be allowed to add anything to the water

We are in MI so we have to launch in the cold (yes with a windchill of 0˚F the launcher does freezes up when wet). We just use hot water and that works for us to prevent it from freezing long enough.
