well it all depends on design, you could probably make a 1 rotor copter out do a 2 rotor copter much more easily
a good design tip is to make things as simple as possible and adding another rotor is only going to complicate things
if you have used the right design it works,,,,,,
can somone explain the bootom plastic fan type semi circle of material in Wright Bat is for?
We @ illinois CANT use IKARA props.. cntacted state rep and the said no
but they posted how to make a good prop replacement
Also im suing a dual prop design. one on top thats double looped motor to get torque. then im adding a free prop at bottom thats gonna spin the opposite way

The vertical surface on the Wright Bat is to provide counteracting drag to the torque of the propellor. Slows down the spin of the motor stick so most of the energy goes into the rotor. Equal and opposite reaction and all that stuff.

can somebody please post instructions on how to make a basic helicopter design?...
our team doesn't really even know where to start in the building of one... and a basic design will start us in the right direction i hope...

the rotors can be made out of "wood, paper, plastic film covering and glue"

no not really. but you can make it based off the wright bat flier (look back at older posts).

i'm not sure if anyone asked this already, but is there a specific reason why helicopters use rotors not propellers?(and vice versa)

<---this face looks cool

helicopters use rotors since they are more efficent when simply pulling up to the sky, propellors provide more thrust, but its mostly for planes since they have to reach high altitudes

For those who want helicopter design/idea
http://www.illinoisolympiad.org/iso/fil ... copter.pdf
i built mine accourding to that except use the prop stuff from ikara instead of delta plane
big problem i am having is the propellors dont spin fast enough ! (there is torque, cuz my 1:16 winder broke off from torque at 32 winds)
any one got ideas?
and instead of using 3/32 rubber i used .083 and i still double looped it!
