I personally do not think Pioneer is strong enough to get in the top 20, they're a brand new nationals team and they haven't really shown anything spectacular. However I think they're able to get top 25, so I'm not sure why pb didn't put them there. Also I again would like to bring this up- why should Boca be higher than Columbia? Are we really basing this on one single invitational? Yes, Boca had an outstanding performance there, but Columbia also had an outstanding performance at states and Columbia is ranked higher historically than Boca. Boca has hardly ever made top 15 let alone top 10 and I sincerely doubt that they'll be able to beat Columbia.
This year's Boca team compares favorably to the team that placed 12th in 2017. Boca's other years of not making the top 15 do not really apply this year, as none of those years are as similar to this year as 2017 is.

As a senior from the Boca team that placed 12th at Nationals, I can confirm: Overall, I believe this year's Boca team is stronger than the 2017 team. However, there also seems to be more volatility in tech events that could prevent a top 10 finish. Boca teams prior to 2017 never exhibited overall national-level strength in study events, hence drastically limiting team placing potential.

Well last year Carmel made Top 20 and they improved their state score plus while Ward's been doing well this year, I'd like to take into account more schools surging and having a good year than the normal excellence Ward brings. That being said, I was thinking about whether to flip the two.
I mean I do think Carmel has significant potential and what I said before probably won't be true now that I'm looking at results but I still think Ward Melville can beat them if they fix the bombed events at states.

As much as I hate to say it, Carmel didn't make top 20 last year and they didn't improve their state score this year. They almost lost to Munster by two points. Their builds are just not the best. If they can fix that along with widi and SoM then I'd put them top 15 personally considering everything else is really strong. They've had a lot of time to do so it's possible they're up to do relatively well, but we don't know.

Yeah I just realized that

Might make me want to change my predictions then. I'll probably put Carmel at 18 and shift Ward up one.
