To clarify. I do not mean that Munster has the streak that TJ does. I think that Munster and TJ are the favorites to win this year, and Carmel and RP are the dark horses.

Also, not to discredit RP, but 2 years ago, they were 8th at state. I understand that they were 2nd last year, but it was only by 7 points. I just think that making RP as the only potential threat to TJ is unfair, especially considering they haven't competed this year against all of the northern Indiana teams.

Munster is the equivalent of TJ in Div C, placing 6th at Nationals (overall) at its best, where Carmel's best is not even close. Additionally, Munster has dominated regionals every year so I wish Carmel luck. I think that post may have been slightly biased based on your origins. I love the enthusiasm however.
I don't think comparing "best ever results" is a fantastic way of predicting who will win state for 2018. No one on the current Munster team was on the team (correct me if I'm wrong, but no one I personally know or remember) when they got 6th at nationals. That was a dream team that had captains like crazypunyman along with an entire team of dedicated and amazing kids. As a sophomore that year, I was quite scared to compete against that team.

Since, they haven't had a group that has been as strong. Munster was 17th at nationals last year after destroying everyone at state (record score of 59). We'll have to wait until state to see how Munster and Carmel stack up after not having competed against each other all year. I haven't been very involved this year, so I won't make any predictions based on inside knowledge. Both teams have performed well at different invitationals and both performed well at their respective regionals - Carmel A was 1st and Carmel B was 2nd. In fact, Carmel performed better at regionals this year than in any other year in recent history, including 2016 when Carmel won state.

Pika and I have always shared close relationships with Munster captains, coaches, team members. I don't know who you are, hmma, but I'd ask that you remain respectful to her and other people on the forum. Pika's done a fantastic job writing tests and supervising a variety of events at different invites and has quite a bit of SciOly experience. She addressed your comment about coach-poaching earlier, so I won't address it again besides saying that it didn't happen and that "the things that happened" were serious budget cuts at Munster (Pika and I were both captains that year).

I don't think "it's cute" for her to think Carmel has a chance of beating Munster. There's a possibility it just might happen.

Does anyone have the scoresheets for Munster's and Carmel's regionals? I can't seem to find them on the sites.

At Butler Regional:

1. Carmel A (58)
2. Carmel B (90)
3. Bloomington North Maroon (94.5)
4. Bloomington South Panther (113)
5. Bloomington North Gold (117)
6. North Central Black (151)
7. Bloomington South Purple (182)

At PNW/Whiting:

There aren't scores, but based on the Indiana SciOly Twitter, here are Munster's event scores (X means no placement, medals went up to 6) with a little math to calculate min score (or total score, in case of Munster Red) and I've also done the same with Whiting's two teams since they're honestly Munster's biggest competition at all at this Regional (I also could possibly be wrong since my counting isn't always right, but I'm not sure and I'm too lazy to go back and check)

Munster Black: 3, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 1, 2, X, X, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, X, 3, 1, 2, 6 => 49 w/ 3 X's

Munster White: 1, 3, 3, 2, 2, 6, X, 3, 2, 6, 5, 3, 1, 2, 5, 3, 3, 5, 1, X, 3, 1, 4 => 64 w/ 2 X's

Munster Red: 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 2, 5, 3, 2, 1, 2, 4, 6, 4, 2, 5, 4, 2, 2, 4, 3, 5 => 66

Whiting Green: 4, 1, 1, X, 6, 1, 5, 1, 1, 1, 3, 4, 3, 4, 1, 4, 1, 1, X, 5, 5, 4, 1 => 57 w/ 2 X's

Whiting White: 5, X, X, 6, X, 5, X, 4, 4, 4, 4, X, X, 3, X, X, 6, 6, X, 4, X, X, X => 51 w/ 12 X's

Clearly one can refer to teams by name and analyze their performances, yet misidentify the state.
