Thanks, I am having trouble with the study part of the event, could you elaborate on the syllabus on what we need to cover because the rules are a little vauge. I looked at a few tests and the questions were from different topics.

Thanks for all the help Unome, I really appreciate it, I was wondering exactly how the charts work. Do we just make charts of different senerios we test at home? Are we allowed to use them for the prediction? How do I maximize this score and get full points? Finally what is an example of a good and bad chart? (I have seen the one on soinc.org

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Generally just having everything will sufficiently maximize the Chart Score. I would recommend separating onto four grids (unlike the national example) in case an ES decides that it only counts as one graph (just in case).

I would think it should be the device being used at that competition. There's not much reason to submit another device's charts.

I would think it should be the device being used at that competition. There's not much reason to submit another device's charts.
Unome what would you say if I told you I might forge four charts if there is ever not enough time to properly test the device for the free 8 points 0.0.

Say I want to make 4 charts similar to the nationals example so I would have starting temperature 60 degrees centigrade, at 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and repeat that 4x for 70, 80, and 90 degrees centigrade. Would that be counted as 4 or 16. Am I allowed to do that just to be safe?

not only does that sound safe, but it also sounds like a lot of testing and something that would put you in a really good spot for predicting.

Hey guys, as we are getting our materials and starting to build our devices, how exactly are you guys getting water to exact temperatures? I want to be accurate to the exact degree so how should I go about doing that?
