Populus balsamifera? What's the difference between this and Populus trichocarpa other than the fruits?

That's correct. I'm not sure what the difference is actually, can someone explain?

There pretty much isn't one, my understanding is that there is some debate as to whether one is a subspecies of the other. Though to quote Sibley "on average Black has larger leaves with paler underleaf"
