slippery elm? and the inner bark can be used for food

Also for future reference, all duke.edu urls contain the first two letters of the tree's scientific name. In this case it has ulru, which corresponds to Ulmus rubra, so it would be good to convert it to an imgur before posting.

Btw, just curious, is it appropriate to use field guides when answering questions in this thread or is it knowledge-based only?
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)

I sometimes have to use a field guide, and I always thought we could... :)
