Correct. But is there a clear way to differentiate White mulberry from red mulberry?

No, unless there are berries present. Red has green berries that turn to red and black while White has red and purple.

This tree is very hard to identify next to another in this family. What two trees, and how could you tell what the picture was?

Black Spruce? and... engelmann spruce? (b/c black spruces have dark colored twigs.)

Correct! And the tree I often was trying to compare it to was White Spruce, which has a light color twig. Only way me and my partner could tell on the state test!

(Ok, maybe that was a little easy, but I wanted to see if anyone else knew the trick...)
