I think its just idiotic. The numbering favors certain teams, and causes unnecessary conflicts. Wouldn't it be much smarter to prepare the to-be representatives for nationals by giving them the same conflicts at nationals?
It certainly would, and I think some other states do that, but given all the scheduling/space issues NY has had recently... I'm just glad we have rooms for every event and every team, even if we only have the space for a limited time that makes the conflicts awkward.

If spacing wasn't a problem at each respective state tournament, I would propose that it should be the same schedule at nats. I mean, it would certainly prepare the teams of a schedule that is similar to nats (which, this year, gave the same conflicts to the same people).

Also Phenylethylamine, on an unrelated note, what invitationals does your team go to?

Does anyone else know what invitationals Fayetteville-Manlius HS goes to?

If I recall, FM only goes to Athens. WM used to go to Athens too, but they didn't this past year.

WM doesn't go to any invitationals most years, sadly. We went to Athens two years ago, and while we'd love to go again next year, I don't know if that's going to happen.

So instead of making States in an area close to most teams, they put it in Canisius College. In Buffalo.

Yeah, that's very unfair. It's a looooooong drive for quite a lot of teams. I remember on this thread I joked about having it at Stony Brook, and someone got mad because Long Island is a long drive for some people, but Buffalo is an equally long drive for us Long Islanders.

And considering 8 teams from WLI, 6 from ELI and 6 from NYC, thats 20 teams, or 40% of the competing teams with 7+ hours of roadtime.
