I should add my reasoning as well: Northville, Troy, and Grand Haven are obvious. IA Central did well at Wright State if I remember correctly (I can't believe I didn't put them in the first time), Forest Hills Central was a close second to Grand Haven at Region 12 (which usually has 2 teams in the top 6), and Detroit Country Day has historically been in the top couple of teams.MIScioly wrote:I thought about that as soon as I hit "submit". I'll put them in for Stevenson. They had a pretty good showing at regionals.Unome wrote:No IA Central? They don't seem any weaker this year to me.MIScioly wrote:Anyone got some early State predictions yet? I'm honestly at a loss this year for predictions - I think it could go many, many different ways, and I think a decent number of teams will be competing for those top two spots.
I'll take a shot at predicting the top 6, though. Right now, I think the top 6 (in no particular order) will be Northville, Troy, Grand Haven, Forest Hills Central, Detroit Country Day, and Stevenson.
So, Northville, Troy, Grand Haven, Forest Hills Central, Detroit Country Day, IA Central.

Re: Michigan 2017
I agree with Northville, Troy, Grand Haven, DCD, IA Central, and FHC.
Northville and IA Central were impressive at out of state competitions, while Troy and DCD impressed me at Frankenmuth and regional competitions. Grand Haven and FHC both were fairly dominant in Region 12 - 3rd place had 1 less point than Grand Haven and FHC combined, so I see both in the top 6. I know Region 12 seems to get better as the year progresses, so as a member of FHC I'd be ecstatic with Grand Haven and FHC both going to nationals. For now, though, I have to say that Northville is easily the top in the state, and Grand Haven close behind after an impressive showing last weekend.

Also haven't been able to get much from here. It appears Hesperia High School and Ionia High School both qualified. Not sure about any others.
Division B (top 3 qualified)
1. Ithaca Middle (38)
2. Portland Middle (48)
3. Sacred Heart Academy (56)
4. Shelby Middle (76)
5. Ionia Middle (83)

13. Crossroads Charter Academy (221)
14. Ashley High (241)
15. Montabella High (244)
16. St. Louis High (252)
For what it's worth, Region 15 only ran 15 of the 23 events this year (same as last year). We strongly hope this does not become a permanent modification for the region.

That's too bad. I wonder why they do that. Perhaps limited resources?dhumphreys wrote:Here are scores from Region 15:John Richardsim wrote: Region 15:

Apparently we are supposed to get our tests back this year too, although I have no idea when that is supposed to happen.John Richardsim wrote:The top scores document from Region 12 has been posted: http://www.gvsu.edu/cms4/asset/110307C6 ... s_2017.pdf

Really? Re: Michigan 2017
The coaches meeting PowerPoint said that scored tests will be given back to teams approximately two weeks after competition if the event supervisor agrees. I haven't heard any updates since though.0ddrenaline wrote:Really? Re: Michigan 2017
No, because Alma College had hosted the tournament for four years running all 23 events without a hitch. We're not entirely sure why some events are cut, but when four of the six events I am doing this year (Game On, Hydrogeology, Remote Sensing, and Rocks/Minerals; I'm also in Dynamic Planet and Optics) get cut, it's quite annoying.MIScioly wrote:That's too bad. That's really a shame. I feel like if you agree to host the tournament, you should agree to host all of the events to the best of your ability.dhumphreys wrote:No, because Alma College had hosted the tournament for four years running all 23 events without a hitch.
