I don't know what the difference is between B and C, but either way, I would just make sure to try out all the representative tasks.

What's a good textbook to study from other than prentice hall? I'm thinking about buying one for me and my partner. I don't really care whether its for high school or college...

There are a lot of good books for dynamic planet out there. Personally, Tarbucks/Lutgens 11e Earth science is a good one. There's more than just volcanoes and earthquakes in it, though. Go to a college bookstore or library and look at the earth science books and see which one you like.
Just don't get a random book that isn't a textbook. Those aren't usually worth the money.
