No it wouldn't. You want to maximize the y-component of the velocity, which is done by launching straight up.
oh, yeah, sorry, i was thinking horizontal distance not time, got my physics confused, we did projectiles in the last month, so i got those confused

egg o naut fins

Post by emma-flute »

Will the fins on the rocket work better if they're straight or at an angle? Thanks.

What is the best material to make the fins out of? Should you use cardboard, plastic, or metal? I think its a very interesting question to know how the fins should be slanted but, I am not really sure which degree would be the best. I would beleive you would put the fins at 5-20 degrees from the vertical but, I do not have an exact number. Plus what shape do you make the fins? Like what curve? If somebody could please answer all my questions, I'd be extremely appreciative. Thanks so much! Please send back soon. Thanks again.
This is a great year because I will beat Owen and Saad in Egg-O-Naut and the New York Jets are a playoff team this year because Brett Farve is the Best Quarterback on the Earth. 7-3. Better and better every week. The Yankees are getting C.C. Sabbathia.

I would suggest useing a thin plastic because it is lighter than metal and stronger than cardboard. Also, to the previous question by emma, tilting the wings will give it a bullet effect, and that is up to you if you want that or a straight flight. I have a question, anyone have any ideas on packaging materials for the egg??

freeman, the best material to use is plastic. also make the fins into a triangular shape with a little bit of a curved point on the end.

I've heard of using blank/old CD's (cut into the right shape, obviously).

for Jonny_Jonny, some ideas are bubble wrap, the kind of plastic that u find at the bottom of easter baskets, or just some tissue paper for the egg.

Also you can suspend it in the bottle with some type of strings or bungie cords
Thanks
