Kinda hard to fit a big box into a smaller box diagonally, unless you are just using a frame with braces.

I wrote to the national website and got the clarification I needed, but some teams may still run into some trouble.

Also, diagonally, everything could fit, but few clocks can run diagonally.

I have no trouble, especially with the clarification and I can explain to supervisors, but the rules in general are often written ambigousy, making it much more difficult to meet requirements.

An event supervisor might say that it has to fit WHILE running, which would be a problem for many ccompetitors. Quite a few people have created devices that are tiny, just to make sure they fit. Of course, this should not be a reason to create a suboptimal device, and the rule may be a hinderance.

If they say that, you could always lodge a complaint.

That's true, if it ever comes to that (hopefully it won't for anyone). I'm sure everyone wants to avoid those complications, though. For example, the competitors have to wait with their devices while the process is going on.

I don't mean to sound like a total novice, although, when it comes to time stuff, I am, but what's ADE, if there is one, stand for?

I haven't heard of ADE. I've heard of AD though. And also CE.

It could mean "Anno Domini Era" but I seriously doubt that that's true. Googling it doesn't yield anything helpful, either. Perhaps it could be a typo?
