How the heck did Conestoga do that. Harriton is a machine, and somehow lost their lead. Must have been a couple slip-ups somewhere along the course of the event for Harriton. Maybe 1 or 2 events that just didn't go well and didn't place well, therefore giving them a lot of points (remember, lowest points = 1st).

Nonetheless, Congratulations to Conestoga.

Also, It's nice to see Strath Haven with a strong showing again. They seemed a bit weaker years before. They seemed to do very well in the building events. Lots of good builders this year for Strath Haven.

PA States is literally going to be an all out brawl. Definitely one of the most, if not the state finals you want to watch and hear about. No matter what, results for who makes top 2 and who moves on to nationals is going to be VERY VERY CLOSE and sadly very heartbreaking for others. Definitely some of the best teams in the nation in the SE region.

Southeast: I know that by making this pick that some teams are going to feel underrated and use it as motivation to prove me wrong, so I’m going to abstain.

Alright, I’m kidding. But DON’T HURT ME PLEASE. I GOTTA DO THIS.

1. Harriton, 2. Conestoga, 3. Bayard Rustin, 4. Penncrest, 5. Strath Haven

Did I put a 4 next to Penncrest? That can’t be right. Ew, look how weird that looks.

1. Harriton, 2A. Conestoga, 2B. Bayard Rustin, 2C. Penncrest, 5. Strath Haven.

Ugh, that’s not much better, now it looks like I’m not taking Strath seriously.

1. Harriton, 2A. Conestoga, 2B. Bayard Rustin, 2C. Penncrest, 2D. Strath Haven.

Whatever.

Rustin has slightly more impressive results from invites, but Stoga had two very even teams for the majority of them, and that frightens me a little bit. I can’t bring myself to put Penncrest ahead of Stoga and Rustin, because they haven’t been to invites and I don’t know if that’s as easily overcome as it used to be. Strath impressed at the Battle of Valley Forge, but I think the other teams are a little more battle-tested, and I REALLY didn’t want to put Penncrest fifth. Harriton’s just a machine at this point, so first is a comparatively easy pick. Please get first Harriton or I’ll look silly.

I feel dirty.
SE Regions just blew away the world and your predictions. 1.) Conestoga, 2.) Harriton, 3.) Penncrest, 4.) Strath Haven, 5.) Bayard-Rustin.

You must feel silly. However, I don't think anyone could have expected this. Penncrest also did much better than people expected because of their little activity in invitationals.

Now, I know that many people are surprised by Conestoga's win over Harriton today, but I would just like to point out that Penncreast beat Harriton 3 years ago at regionals. So, it is not completely unheard of. However, that year, (2011) Harriton beat out Penncreast at states. So, this year's state tournament should be very interesting.

Also, congrats to all of the teams who competed today. It was a fun competition, capped with at very exciting awards ceremony! :D

Oh trust me, that's a lot closer than I will be with a lot of the other regions. Really I was decently close, I was only one off for all of them except Rustin. There's just no surefire way to predict regionals with only invites to go off of, I just do it for fun. Though in hindsight it's a good reminder that no team is ever invincible, even though they may seem so.

And then Penncrest got Harriton back again at nationals :|

It's easy to forget that there were four straight years (2007-2010) where Penncrest beat Harriton at regionals. Though Harriton won states all of those years in the end, in two of those four years Penncrest placed higher than Harriton at Nationals. It's also notable how close 2nd and 3rd place have been the past two years. Two years ago Rustin upset Penncrest by 2 and last year Penncrest snuck back in by 1 over Stoga. So it's not as if Stoga hasn't been around and in strong contention the past few years, this is just the first time they've fully broken through. Now there's around two months for Harriton and Penncrest to try to catch back up.

I agree with HMCGinny, I competed on Harritons team for four years, and we never won regionals in all that time.

It's also not uncommon for a team to let its guard down after doing so well the previous year... Least to say, I'm looking forward to watching the livestream of states, it should be incredibly interesting. :D
