It's hard to tell... things that are 'easy' to answer usually go pretty quickly. Other things that are either 'hard' to answer or we are reluctant to open a certain can of worms on typically take longer. Plus there was a 'mad rush' when the faqs first opened up, so we are slowly working through them.

If you make your own golf tees, are they unmodified?

Thanks, I found it. Is there a reason that is not in the "rules clarification" section?

#1 In 4a, since we bring our own items, do we bring all 30 and the event supervisor picks which ones we will use, or is it up to us?
#2 I assume the rules mean, 1-10 golf tees, 1-10 paperclips and 1-10 marbles, NOT 1-10 tees, and 10 paperclips and 10 marbles, correct?

Technically, rules clarifications are used only for changes to the rules, e.g. errors like leaving out light bulbs and led's from Mission, or significant mis-wordings or unclear rules. Anything else that is an answer the rules writers believe should be evident in the rules but many people wondered about is an FAQ. However people often refer to both types as clarifications just out of habit. At least that's my take on things.

Two Questions:
1. What constitutes the safety inspection? I'm mainly looking at thermal here- would burning alcohol or baby oil automatically be illegal, regardless of the amount / how controlled it is?
2. Would blocking out light from hitting a photosensor be considered a direct energy transfer? For example, moving a piece of cardboard in between them. In this case the light would already be on. Since whatever moved the cardboard didn't directly transfer energy to the photosensor, I'm guessing the answer would be no, but maybe not?

I was not making the connection to rule 5e: 5 pts awarded for each object successfully sorted in its correct final container (max=150 pts.). So we must have 1 golf tee, 1 paperclip and 1 marble to "start" the event, but we can have more to get more points in sorting.
