(full disclosure: I'm a GNS alum)

Speaking of movement in the top 10, GNS finally broke in last year with a new coach after our little DQ debacle the year before. Yes, a bunch of people graduated, but quite frankly I found last year's sophomores terrifying. I think they'll at least repeat top 7, if not improve. Then again, it gets tougher and tougher to advance the closer you are to the top 5 or 6.

OMG, a GNS alum!! Why did the high school get DQed? My coach said it was because of the paperwork, but I guess I'm still curious.

Do you think the High School has any chance of getting to Nationals anytime soon?

We were disqualified. Our helicopter's time would have gotten first place.
Speaking of weird results, what happened with your Gravity Vehicle at Nats? 2nd in Buffalo and 51 in Orlando is pretty strange.

Is there anyway to determine the order of events for both the B and C divisions for States? I am a coach and we are trying to avoid scheduling conflicts in March. Last year I went by the National Manual tentative schedule hoping that NY would follow something similar which they did not. I know NY will post it eventually, though having it now would be very helpful. If not now, does anyone know approximately when (month) they usually post the schedule?

Evan after they post it, you still won't be able to avoid all conflicts because you won't know your team number. The best you can do is try to minimize it a little. You can usually count on a conflict between Astro and Experimental, for example. Other than that, it depends on how you place at regional.

Thanks Flavorflav, It is very difficult to avoid conflict. I was more or less hoping someone would know the secret formula the state uses, every other year we just go for it and inevitably have a few conflict regardless of what we do to avoid them.

I feel like there are often conflicts with memorization events. So if there's someone on your team who is a memorization beast and is like doubling up on Rocks and Forestry or Water Quality, you can assume there will be a conflict somewhere, although not definitely.

Last year they did not run the two ID events (rocks and forestry) at the same time, but over the last several years they have conflicted more often than not. This is a perennial problem for us, since we often have at least one ID event specialist.

Hi all, I'm a Texas alum and undergrad at Columbia. I miss SciO! If any of you in NYC want an extra volunteer/mentor for your team (esp. Bio events!), message me please :) I've tried contacting coaches but haven't gotten replies :(
