I wasn't sure if that was the school names, but I think thats what their names were.

Hey guys i know this isn't a rules clarification page and i apologize for try to get one but i really need to know if square roots are allowed in we've got your number

If it's not in the rules then you definitely need to email Texas SciOly about it... If we tell you the wrong thing here there's nothing you can point to at a contest to tell the supervisor you're right.

Also, does anyone know how the maglev test is going to be handled at state?

After reading the Texas version of the rules, I believe that the roots symbol would not be allowed (since it isn't listed as an allowed operator), but the rules only disallow negative exponents, which implies that fractional exponents would be allowed.

Note that what I typed above is only my opinion and the event supervisor(s) at state or regionals may have a different opinion on the rules. Therefore, you should ask for a clarification.
