Good guess, but no. American Elder has a deeper "fold" at the center vein – there's probably a technical term for that but I don't know it. It might also have narrower leaves.

Errrr, last guess and I'll wait for other people to try. It just might be a Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus) but I didn't study that yet so... >.>

I just realized that the picture may not be a completely accurate representation of the species. Here is a slightly different image of the same plant.
