Does anyone know what NYS State competition will be using? I heard it might be Google Docs.
And is there usually an option between what you can use? (Like Wordpad, Microsoft Word/Excel, etc...)

I don't know what they'll be using this year, but last year at states we were only allowed to use MS Word and Excel.

Oh ok. So I assume that whatever they give you is what you can use.

It's at the proctor's choice. They can give you any MS-compatible or Open Office toolset

Technically Google Docs goes against the Compute This rules. In order to use Google Docs, you have to have/use a username and password. I guess the supervisor could always provide, but still..

@kxiao: Yeah, but they should've posted the state director's decision on the newyorkscioly.org website by now. It's weird that they haven't yet (or maybe I just can't find it...).

I've been trying to find it too. I can't seem to find it on the NYSSO site, not to mention anywhere else.

The New York Scioly Rules Clarifications state that you should contact your State Director if you do not see the Software that will be used on the Website.

Maybe someone should give this a shot

At PA States, we've always had to sign onto the college network with a specific username and password (like "Team47" with password "scioly"). It also makes it a lot easier to grade, because you can easily tell which files belong to which team due to the specific accounts.
