As of now, is this the consensus that the forum has reached? I mean, is this the closest to a list at present?
Also, when does the official list come out? Our couch is kind of lazy. . .we didn't know about events this year until about December. . .they *do* come out before then, right?
Also, did anyone notice that Optics was a B trial event that ended up on C (as far as we know)?
Lastly, if someone could give the likelihood of the events it would be greatly appreciated. I understand that certain events are always around, just with a different name or flavor from year to year. Like, people have been talking about Dynamic Planet covering some form of water...would this be like Oceanography a few years back?
Thank you for your time!

Probably Rivers and Lakes, as previously, not Oceanography.

My coach said it might be Oceanography, but I figured it would be Rivers and Lakes. We'll just have to wait until the official event list comes out.

No STC???

Hopefully they'll change that
Oh well, I guess it's time to broaden my horizons with some Sumo Bots or something.

That is the closest we have right now to a list. In general, they have a list of the next year's events out a few days after nationals, though the tentative rules don't come out until July, and then only if your coach goes to the coaches' clinic. The official rules come out in late September.
Although Optics was only a B trial this year, it has been a C trial before, and since the topic of Physics Lab changes every single year, its really just a continuation of a cycle that was already going on, it just involves a name change this time.
Yes, some events are pretty much permanent, for example we've had structural engineering and astronomy events every year for the past ten, and a while before that. This doesn't mean that we'll always have them though. As the proctors for these events retire or leave Science Olympiad, unless they find replacements, their events will go away. Even so, this list is quite likely to become the official event list next year. It could be changed, but it's pretty unlikely.

The list is usually changed pretty drastically actually, that is regarding what new events go in. Trees was supposed to go in this year. So was mousetrap (for b division). I wish battery buggy was switched for car of tomorrow.

I don't get sounds of music....do we make an instrument and play it? And maybe answer a few questions or something? Meh...id suck at that.

Yeah, but you build 2 instruments, one bass clef range, one treble clef range from 2 out of 4 families: stringed, xylophone-like, drum, and wind. I don't really like the concept of it 'cause it seem that the very nature of the judging is going to be subjective, and in science, we're supposed to be objective! If you ask me, I'd rather have Storm the Castle come back.

Div. C Sumo, Mission, and sounds? That sounds like a crap load of work o-o
And very diff. from the schedule of 2010. I don't think that drastic is even possible. :O
I mean can you have the same person doing the 3 events at the same time

because I want to do them all xD
