From the 2010 Manual
1. Decription: This event will test knowledge of North American birds on the official list.

So North America, not just U.S., and on the list. Though who knows what some crazy judge will do.
exactly wat i was thinking. :x

All birds on the list occur in the United States to some extent. This doesn't mean that knowledge of things about the species on the that are in some way not pertaining to North America are irrelevant in any way shape or form.

That's what I meant. For example the Canada goose breeds in Canada and northern U.S., and is also in Siberia, China Japan etc. Since it is in North America it is on the list.

Since they are allowing us to write in the guide, do you think they'll mind if we attach a sheet of paper or two inside the guide? Like on the back or front flap? Because I can't find a field guide that covers all or most of the birds on the bird list, and the remaining birds that it doesn't cover won't fit on a single sheet of double-sided paper. I haven't actually seen the rule manual, but I've gathered this from reading the forum, but if we're allowed to bring any other resources, please let me know. And if you know, tell me if the judges will mind if I attach pages inside the guide. Thanks!

I would either use a lot of sticky notes or just write in the inside cover of the book. I'm not sure, but maybe if the paper is small enough, and doesn't stick out of the book, they might let you do it. Can anyone confirm that? Also, have you looked at Peterson Field Guides? I'm pretty sure it has all the birds.

A bird lady came to our school and used one of those pens that reads aloud when you run it across the words. She used it on a guide so we could hear it. She also brought 3 rescued owls :D it was super cool.

I have 5 different field guides so far. I think I have the peterson field guide, the one with all of them on it, published 2008.

Thanks! I just got the Peterson Field Guide and it has mostly all of the birds! Thank you! And as for writing in the book, I guess I will have to use really small pieces of paper, or those really big post-its! Thanks for the help!

We can bring the list, and a notes sheet.
