I noticed that the first letter of each word gives "aaat, aat, at," if that helps.

Just saying, there really isn't a basis for a protect, since you only responded. I'd say UTF would be a better protect.

The fact that it's italicized makes me think that it's the main part of the clue and not exactly word-for-word, more like as a whole for anagrams/etc.
