A joke to my coach's son(he built the robot and did the event at Regionals) after Robo-Cross state competition:

Me: What if i told you i forgot to charge the batteries?
Him: Uhh... (his sandwich drops like a dead body, complete shock on his face)
Me: Haha, gotcha!
Him: I ought to @#%$!#%$&&$(*%, whew!

Joke to my coach over e-mail before Regionals:
Me: Is it okay if i'm a little late?

soobsession wrote:...some of us...no...A LOT of us made up quotes to motivate us after a devastating regionals while we were preparing for states.

of course, i went for some of the harsher, more serious ones: "there is no difference between second place and seventh place, the only difference is between first place and everything else" (that was made up during the long weeks of depression after regionals)

then another fellow sciolyian made up up a less serious one...something along the lines of this: "if anyone thinks that a sport has to be physical (or something like that) than the are most definitely, utterly, ____, and _____ naive (idk what goes in the blanks). if anyone thinks that SO is not a competition, they will find themselves being hunted down by science geeks at night."

also:
"sewing is my life, though i can't sew for my life"
"what's a phylum?" (said by another team doing a biology event)
"whats a gastropod?"(said by another team doing fossils)
the real quote is: "If anyone ever said that any activity that is not active is not a sport is completely, utterly, superbly, and fully naive. If anyone ever says that SO is not a competition, in the night, they will find themselves totally disorientated and being hunted by science geeks."

let's see some others:

some girl on my team bought cotton candy at regions:
"pass the stuff"
"what stuff"
"the drugs"
"WHAT?"
sighs. "the cotton candy"
"ohhhh"
"yeah. it's sugar high for me. more power than cocaine, alcohol, and crack combined and tripled." :D
Nerds rule. Nerds are awesome. Nerds will someday (soon) rule the world. And you know it.

2010. Be prepared. If not, you f(l)ail!

Hey, in the middle of fossils at state one of the teams said
"what the heck is a trilobite?"
another team hadn't even finished their station and was talking to each other about some guy on their team's sexual orientation.
i was like "shut up!"

lols. one team at my regionals for a bio event actually raised their hand and asked what a phylum was...i was cracking up so hard  everyone on my team knows what a phylum is...whether they were doing that event or not.

for fossils, the team behind us was like "whats a gastropod? oh whatever, lets just say its not a gastropod. its not a stem...(i think they were referring to a crinoid stem)...and then they called time and the team was like "what!?" i only heard that cuz my partner and i were long finished with our station ;)

then at station like 12/20ish the same team was like "yes! finally! we got one question right!" (that station had an internal mold of a bivalve and asked for either the phylum or class:mollusca/bivalvia and the mode of preservation:internal mold)

afterwards i asked a random team member if they knew what a gastropod was. she said "yeah, its like a snail right?" and she wasnt even on fossils. i felt really bad for both teams. :|

I'm not sure this would count as a quote but it's worth mentioning.

On Crave the Wave at Invitationals I was completely unprepared. All I had done was hardly glanced at a light and sound textbook and I had no resource binder at all. My partner literally got on the event 5 minutes beforehand. On one question our answer was "good question ^.^". Since then whenever I don't know the answer, I have to put that.

Kid 2: ...Do you mean a ball?
