Re: What is the Hardest State to Compete in?
I would agree- New York isn't the state with the most competitive teams, but since the question is in which state it is the hardest to compete, NY would be up there. The fact of there being so many teams in itself makes it difficult to compete within the state. In C Division, of course, one could make a case for it being difficult to compete in NY because you know no matter what you do, Fayetteville-Manlius will destroy you.

I guess I'll be the first to say NJ. There's a lot of competition within the better teams... And there's also _______ MS....

The problem with NJ is that since it's smaller than other states, there's not as many teams. I would say Ohio, though PA has a lot of great teams and NY has so many teams to begin with.

Fayetteville-Manlius is an excellent school, but I think a state like Ohio or PA has that also, but even more so. As I already explained, Ohio has a few teams in both divisions every year that could get top 10 at nationals. Not only one. B division in PA recently has had Sewickley dominating. Harriton has been dominating for a while, and Penncrest has also been dominating for a few years now in PA C division. Yes, Fayetteville-Manlius and Gelinas have been dominating for a few years now, but it's not like Pennsylvania or Ohio.

I'll say NY - in NY, it's a feat just to get to states. Regionals get very competitive, and few teams go to states as it is compared to the total amount.
Although seeing as I've only competed in NY, I can't really comment. But the numbers do point toward NY.

I would also think Ohio.
But I would think Pen-sil-vania (i don't exactly know how 2 spell it...) + California + NY are also very competitive, since they have so many teams!

Re: What is the Hardest State to Compete in?
New york in B and C, In B there is that one school that always comes in first (I forget the name) and the other schools have to really compete for that second place spot. I would perfer it if it changes every year, mixing it up would be nice. As for C division Fayetteville Manlius is alway the best (I hope for a change there also but there probaly won't ever be a change in B or C)

Re: What is the Hardest State to Compete in?
At the regionals level, I would say NY, because all of the 561 teams are fighting for the 100 or so slots at the two states tournaments (yes, B and C are separate).
I'd say Pennsylvania for most difficult to get to Nationals, but that's because I don't really know what's going on in Ohio. Pennsylvania seems like it has a handful of Nats-worthy powerhouse teams, whereas NY has just FM and one or two others being heads and shoulders above everyone else.
