Re: Ecology B/C
An invasive plant has taken over a plot of grassland on a ranch. The specie is spiny and allelopathic, but whenever the owner tills up the soil, sprays herbicides, or otherwise eliminates the problem, the plants that grow back are just other disturbance selected invasive species. Describe 2 possible solutions to the problem.

Re: Ecology B/C
1. Use prolonged germination tarps and glyphosate to eliminate all seeds within the soil, and reseed with a native seed mix
2. Set it on fire (controlled burns are a common method of control in praries)

Re: Ecology B/C
1. yup, I would just mention perennial plants (probably bunchgrasses)
2. that would usually work unless the other invasive species that grow back are fire resistant/resprout easily after fires your turn

I'm very sorry if this isn't allowed, but seeing as Gavinupp hasn't responded yet and I'm itching to start studying...
1. Describe K-selective and r-selective organisms.
2. Give 2 examples of each

1. Describe K-selective and r-selective organisms.
2. Give 2 examples of each
r-selective organisms are those that put the majority of their energy into rapid growth and reproduction while K-selective organisms place most of their energy into sustained growth and generally have fewer offspring. Mosquitos and frogs are examples of r-selective organisms whereas humans and elephants are examples of K-selective organisms.
