Our school does team practices about 2 hours 3 days a week, and I would imagine that our team members took another hour or so of independent study. Plus, most of our build team also does Odyssey of the Mind, which has similar build parts in that you have to see how much of a load an apparatus can take before breaking, so I would say they get about 2-3 hours of extra practice a week just from that alone.
