Re: Southern California 2016
Carmel Valley attended Kraemer, Muscatel, and Mesa Robles invitationals, and Oak Valley attended Ladera Vista and Kraemer invitationals, so not surprising they got first and second.
Speaking of which, Mesa Robles scores (prepare to be entertained)
1st: Carmel Valley
2nd: Churchill
3rd: Jeffrey Trail
4th Kraemer
5th: Muscatel
6th: Mesa Robles
7th: Chaparral
Clearly, there's a four-way competition for first place in SoCal Div B. For once, states should be EXTREMELY interesting.

Do you have point scores? Troy already looks like they could win Nationals again (another three-peat!)nghtlrk wrote:Huh, no talk about Div C?

Re: Southern California 2016
Yes, It will be Troy in the SoCal state followed by whoever #2 is at a hundred points back. Won't even be close. Battle is only for 2nd and bragging rights as the second best team to Troy. I see one of the LA schools taking second this year - like Arcadia. Maybe Northwood from OC. About five of the SD schools usually cluster high. The grapevine down south says that Canyon Crest out of SD may be weaker this year. Torrey Pines may be the best SD has to offer. We will actually see if that is true in the SD regionals on Saturday.
The much more interesting competition is going to be Division B.

San Diego Regional Division C Results
1. Canyon Crest*
2. Del Norte*
3. Westview*
4. Torrey Pines*
5. University City*
6. Scripps Ranch*
7. Rancho Bernardo
8. Francis Parker
9. Mt. Carmel
10. Sage Creek
*Qualified for state
Top 4 same as last year with Del Norte moving up two spots ahead of Westview and Torrey Pines. Curious as to how close CCA and Del Norte were this year.
They are not surprising. Canyon Crest and Torrey Pines are fed by Carmel Valley which is in turn fed by Ocean Air and Torrey Hills elementaries. Del Norte and Westview are fed by Oak Valley, Black Mountain and Mesa Verde. Those feeder schools placed 1-6 in Division B this year. Good 'farm system' keeps them all at the top, but still no match for Troy.

Re: Southern California 2016
LA Regionals happened
Here are the preliminary results:
Div B:
1st: Muscatel
2nd: Mesa Robles
3rd: Chaparral
4th: Hermosa Valley
5th: Suzanne
6th: South Pointe
7th: Madrona
Top 6 remained the same from last year, however the Muscatel-Mesa Robles gap narrowed to 29. Madrona replaced Horace Mann for 7th.
Div C:
1st: North Hollywood
2nd: Walnut
3rd: Rosemead
4th: Diamond Bar
5th: Arcadia
6th: Mark Keppel
7th: Temple City
North Hollywood basically ran away with it this year, with Arcadia falling pretty drastically to 5th (they've been consistently in the top 2 for a VERY long time.)
Next weekend will be OC regionals, here are my predictions:
Div B:
1st Kraemer
2nd: Jeffrey Trail
3rd: Sierra Vista
4th: Ladera Vista
5th Cerro Villa
First two will definitely make it, 3rd will almost certainly qualify, 4th and 5th are favored but are not shoe-ins, depends how they've been preparing since Mesa Robles. Dark horses are Rancho San Joaquin and (less likely) Pioneer. Any other teams placing would be a black swan.
Div C I can't make any predictions, but Troy will be first, Northwood will likely be second, with University and Valencia taking 3rd and 4th in some order. Remaining three spots to include Woodbridge, Aliso Niguel, Irvine, however there remains a distinct possibility of a dark horse stealing a spot (Villa Park? OCSA?). C is tougher to predict than B because there's teams go to invitationals; the only ones I know that go to more than one are Troy and Northwood.
