Re: New York 2016
Good luck to teams (and apparently some people I know helping out, though they don't need luck) at Islip this weekend!

Re: New York 2016
Well, Islip results as I see them (from the old team anyway) has appeared in my sights. Interesting that Spackenkill went up, but on the other hand idk how various teams are stacking and also I'd bet random events need to be worked on by many teams.
Also, darnit NYers don't let people from other states beat you guys! Lastly, hopefully with what little time I had the Geomaps test was passable for an invite
(I had to edit it in ~5 hrs...).

Re: New York 2016
I never mentioned my good luck to teams, but I guess some competitions passed. Nonetheless, good luck to teams that still have regionals!

Since I don't know much about NY, how are these results compared to previous years? I recognize Townsend Harris (7th or so at State last year?) and Stuyvesant, but I don't know anything else.

Re: New York 2016
NY Metro is definitely the biggest competition (number-wise) I've seen browsing other regionals/states. This was my first year competing, but according to what my teammates said Townsend Harris, Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Collegiate, and Dalton are frequent invitees to States. Trinity, SI Tech, Leon M. Goldstein, and Archbishop Molloy are also the top schools at this regional. This year Horace Mann was the sleeper, I believe.Unome wrote:If this region was a state, it would be one of the largest...chaguy2457 wrote:NYC Metro Regional Results

Re: New York 2016
To my eye, the results I have been seeing seem kind of typical. I also saw west Nassau was GNS A, Kellenberg A, Chaminade A, and Roslyn A I think (something like that). I think you have said GNS might be better than usual, but it is tough to tell looking at the results. Kellenberg did very close, but there's a few events that their B team did better, so who knows.
Lake Erie seems the usual at least for Williamsville East (I think I also remember St Joe's and Canisius sort of, but I can't remember everyone from that region sadly).
As for the NYC one, typically Townsend Harris or Stuy wins. IIRC in the past Stuy typically won, but I guess Townsend Harris has been edging them out (though, online the scores show it's by a fair bit this year). Typically one of them gets a top 10 spot at states too, though normally at the bottom of it as I recall. Also nice to notice is that Brooklyn Tech has been getting better, I don't believe they used to do as well or have a team or something until last year. The rest are sorta typical, at most I think Benjamin Cardozo or someone might have taken one of the spots some years ago, but I don't think it's my job to dig those things up anymore
. Lastly, for size of the regional, I believe the full Nassau Div C regional will still reign supreme...it must be 80 or 90 combined by now >.>. The split was like 50/40 or something like that. It's half because multiple teams are allowed, but there's just a lot of teams there in general.
Also, yay conversation finally!
