What is the difference between Reach for the Stars and Astronomy?

Basically Astronomy is WAY more broad and more conceptually different.

I think RFS is more learning and memorizing things about specific stars and other astronomical objects, and Astronomy is conceptual and more theoretical. While there are DSOs in Astronomy (and some tests are entirely DSOs), questions about the physics of a hypothetical star system are more common.

I got third place school wide for Reach For The Stars! I had no partner and I relied solely on my memory (no notes)! I am ecstatic right now!

Is having a red-filtered flashlight important for the reach for the stars competition, and where can you buy one?

The easiest way is to take a flashlight and tape a red filter over it. You won't always need it, but even if you don't, you'll look super prepared if you have it.

For RFS, if there are 2 members in a team, do they take both tests (part 1 & 2) together?

It's totally up to you how you take a test. Usually if a test is really long you would split the test. Vice versa if the test is short.
