I have to point out the Sherlock reference points to foreverphysics. I think that I heard that quite a few times in Fringe also, but Walter says "if you eliminate the impossible, what you are left with is the truth.".

Same here it is nearly a direct quotation of "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Which is from the short story the sign of the four. But who it might be pointing to I do not know.
