Why did people on the old forum have negative posts?

If people actually make good writeups of their teams on the [wiki][/wiki], we can maybe put up a "Team of the Month" thing on the front page of the [wiki][/wiki].

I think that may have been because their team forum got deleted and that's where they had most of their posts. I could be completely wrong though.

Short answer 1: Because DS sucks. :P

Long answer 1:
Like me for instance. I was part of the Ben Franklin forum, which in its prime had the most posts of any team forum (something like 6000). We used that forum religiously (our coach even stayed up till 2 or 3 AM posting with us) [this was in the heyday before the flood limit got introduced too]. I probably accumulated close to 1000 posts in the team forum myself.

However, all the members graduated from the BF team and moved to Division C 3 years ago. So the forum stopped being used and eventually it got marked for deletion. Now, on the old form, posts in private team forums counted toward total post count (not anymore).

When DS deleted the BF forum, the site subtracted off those posts I made, which makes sense since they no longer exist. Yet, somehow (DS can tell you how), TWICE the post count got deleted. So my 1000 posts on the BF forum, rather than being -1000 became -2000. And so people who only posted in team forums ended up being significantly in the negatives.

Short/Long answer 2: If someone got banned, I'm pretty sure their post count was reset to -300.

As for team of the month, Valpo HS has a semi decent one right now. I meant to really make it good a long time ago, but college has distracted me.

Speaking from first-hand experience, I can say that I don't think that happens when somebody is banned.

I'd love to be able to change posts to polls in the forums.

What if, say, your SAT score changes, or you get more siblings?

However, just letting people randomly post replies would skew the results too much.

I should note that there's a bug in that. If you allow re-votes, then anonymous (not signed in) users can vote in the polls infinitely. Fortunately, very few people have abused that (not that you really can...).
